About Feed The Children
Founded in 1970 by Larry and Frances Jones, the mission of Feed the Children is to deliver food, medicine, clothing, and other necessities to families who lack these essentials due to famine, war, poverty or natural disaster. In FY 2007, Feed the Children shipped more than 135 million pounds of food and other essentials to children and their families in all 50 states and internationally, supplementing almost 800,000 meals each day.
Program Sponsorships
Cause Care has chosen two programs within the “Feed the Children” organization. One is “Disaster Relief” and the other is “Truck Sponsorship”. Each of these programs assists families and children in need year-round.
Disaster Relief
They are one of the first in responders. When disasters hit at home or overseas, Feed the Children responds by immediately securing the food and other emergency supplies needed to help those affected by the disaster. Also, they are the last ones out. They go beyond rushing in supplies and emergency food and supply aid. They also help to rebuild communities, to help individuals and families get back on their feet and become stable again. Often aid continues for months following the disaster.
In addition to overseas, help is provided domestically within the United States. For example, Feed the Children was first on the scene of Hurricane Katrina, which was one of the nation’s worst natural disasters.
While serving domestically; Feed the Children services abroad. During the severe famine in Africa, Feed the Children distributed 13.8 million pounds of rice to starving children in Kenya, Malawi, and other African nations. Feed the Children continues to serve these devastated areas while they are still trying to recover.
Truck Sponsorship
Truck sponsorship allows a sponsor to sponsor a truckload of food, personal care items and other necessities to children and families in need. Last year, Feed the Children distributed over 135 million pounds of food and other essentials to impoverished families. Cause Care, LLC helps to underwrite the transportation costs for each truckload of products.
Feed the Children has a fleet of over 50 semi-trucks. Each truck sponsorship delivers 400 boxes of food, 400 boxes of personal care items, and two pallets of assorted goods.
