Panic Attack Treatments - The Different Methods of Anxiety Treatments

Because the symptoms for every anxiety sufferer are different, so are the methods of panic attacks treatment. There are treatment methods for almost every situation including immediate assistance with anxiety attacks.

Some methods of treatment are more effective than others for long term use. Let take a look at the few different methods and figure out why some are better than others.

The first method that is used to control attacks is anxiety medication. Anxiety medications are for use during the anxiety attack for immediate relief. They are not good for long term treatment because they do not last long. They only help during moments of extreme anxiety.

The second medication option is the antidepressant. Antidepressants are not for immediate relief. They are prescribed to control anxiety between attacks. This in a way helps to reduce the frequency of panic attacks. These are effective for some patients, but they are not great for overall long term anxiety treatment because they do not target the source of anxiety, they simply reduce the amount of anxiety a person may be feeling at any given time.

The most effective method to end anxiety is therapy. Cognitive behavior therapy is effective at controlling anxiety and attacks because it helps the patient understand what causes their anxiety. It helps them to retrain their mind and think through their anxiety and difficult situations. When they understand what is going on inside their mind, they can effectively battle panic attacks and anxiety, and this is why therapy is the most effective long term panic attacks treatment.
